Adage has consistently been recognized as one of Chicago’s 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For, one of the Best Places to Work in Illinois, and on the Inc. 5000 list of the Fastest Growing Private Companies in America.

Adage Technologies is a web design and development firm in downtown Chicago that specializes in building web and mobile CMS and eCommerce solutions. We are a team of strategic, creative, and technical professionals who partner with our clients to solve business problems and meet meaningful goals. It’s our team-oriented approach that truly drives us to win awards, work with prestigious clients and break ground with exciting new technology. We are a growing company and are looking for a UI/UX Designer to join our team.

As a UI/UX Designer, you will help architect and design user interfaces for a variety of projects. We engage closely with clients to understand what they want to achieve through their website, and then work with our own developers and designers to bring those ideas to life. Our UI/UX Designer will have the opportunity to work with a variety of different organizations and will utilize many skills from their UI/UX tool belt. The position will involve work in user research, information architecture, prototyping, usability testing, and modular or atomic design. We are very interested in candidates who are also very comfortable designing user interfaces.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Consulting with clients to define as well as document their business requirements and the challenges they are trying to solve
  • Defining user goals and requirements by conducting user research, developing questionnaires, conducting user interviews, performing secondary research, etc
  • Creating personas, user scenarios, user journey maps and wireframes to help present research findings and design ideas to external clients and our internal delivery team
  • Developing sitemaps and prototypes at various levels of fidelity to propose and demonstrate solutions to clients. You’ll do this while following best practices in UX design.
  • Collaborating closely with all members of our internal team to ensure our applications and websites provide the best user experience possible
  • Developing, defining and refining best practices and processes as they relate to UX
  • Mentoring other members on the UX team and sharing UX best practices to help team members grow professionally

We want someone who:

  • Has a Bachelor’s degree in one of the creative arts, Digital Media, Human and Computer Interaction, etc. or equivalent work experience
  • Has at least 1-2 years of experience working in a professional, full-time UX/UI role.
  • Works often in Adobe creative suite, including photoshop and illustrator.
  • Works often with prototyping tools like Axure, Pixate, Framer, Form, Atomic, or Invision
  • Is capable of planning and leading on-site design workshops with clients
  • Can effectively communicate design decisions to team members and clients
  • Can defend their design choices in a positive manner, but also knows when to compromise
  • Enjoys working with developers and designers to understand technology requirements and capabilities as they relate to UX
  • Is proficient with the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Has a thorough enough understanding of UI and front-end development to know which designs are possible to develop and which ones might be stretching technical limits
  • Basic knowledge of prototyping in code (HTML/CSS/JS) is preferred
