Technical Product Manager at Narrative Science
 About Narrative Science

Narrative Science is the leader in Advanced NLG for the enterprise. Its Quill™ platform, an intelligent system, analyzes data from disparate sources, understands what is interesting and important, then automatically generates perfectly written narratives to convey the right meaning from the data for any intended audience, at machine scale. It excels where data visualizations fall short: it identifies and conveys relevant information in conversational language that people can immediately comprehend, trust, and act on.

We are looking for a Technical Product Manager to join our Product team who is excited to work on revolutionary technology and help shape the future of the company. We're a group of passionate individuals working together on game-changing technology—and having a lot of fun while doing so. Our core values are ingrained in everything we do, from how we develop our technology to how we interact with customers to how we hire people.

The Technical Product Manager is responsible for defining user stories and features for our platform. This includes the requirements for a user to define data analytics with respect to language components, vetting data tools for potential integrations with the core platform, and other enterprise software features. This role will work with leading edge technologies and a world-class engineering team to deliver new features that delight our users.

Successful candidates will have a strong background in gathering user requirements, prioritizing roadmaps, and working with a cross-functional team to deliver a first-class user experience. Standout applicants will have an innate understanding and passion for technology and be interested in applying it to create innovative solutions.

  • Product Development
    • Create and prioritize user stories from epics
    • Own and prioritize backlog for your theme team
    • Gather, consolidate, and prioritize feature feedback
    • Review requirements and business needs with engineers and quality assurance testers to refine and clarify as necessary
    • Validate releases and feature production readiness
    • Send out communications to stakeholders when new features are available
  • Technical Product Strategy
    • Produce and maintain clear and referable documentation of your feature vision, requirements, and phasing
    • Define primary users, use cases, and epics for a feature set
    • Perform research and competitive analysis on competition and complementary toolsets from a technical perspective
    • Be an expert on the user needs for your functional area
    • Use data and user feedback to identify areas of constraint or unnecessary complexity within the user interface; create recommendations on how to address these areas
    • Interface with Customers, Sales, Product, Marketing, and our Professional Services teams as necessary to gather feedback and insight on user needs

  • 2+ years of experience in a technical product owner or product analyst role
  • Proven track record of delivering products from conception through launch
  • Experience with Business Intelligence Reporting and Data Analysis technologies such as SPSS, R, SQL, or other analysis tool is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a liaison between stakeholders and engineering teams
  • Bachelor’s degree; focus in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, or related field a plus
  • Collaborative nature with ability to work cross-functionally
  • Strong degree of resiliency and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Company Reviews

"I feel lucky to not only believe in the future of our technology and the success of the company as a whole, but the people I work with are also my friends. Sometimes I have to pinch myself to make sure it's not too good to be true!"

"Narrative Science is a place that fosters an incredible level of intelligence. However, even more than that, NS operates with the same level of teamwork and collaboration. If you come to work at Narrative Science, you not only are going to excel professionally, but you will also be welcomed into a close knit family and that's not something you find everyday."

"What I like best about working at Narrative Science is really a combination of three things: awesome, intelligent coworkers, a fascinating and truly compelling company objective, and really interesting work on until-now unsolved problems. I think it's fairly common for a company or a job to have one of the three things, but altogether it makes for a really unique, engaging atmosphere that I love to call my workplace."
