Senior Account Executive

Narrative Science is the leader in advanced natural language generation (Advanced NLG) for the enterprise. Quill, its Advanced NLG platform, learns and writes like a person, automatically transforming data into Intelligent Narratives—insightful, conversational communications full of audience-relevant information that provide complete transparency into how analytic decisions are made.

We are currently looking for a Senior Account Executive, Enterprise Sales in our New York  or Chicago office. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the company’s business development efforts across their assigned territory. As a “hunter,” you will develop targets by prospecting into new customers and working diligently to build strong relationships with all members of the customer’s buying chain. The right candidate will have a proven track record of exceeding sales quotas for software based solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute territory plan to exceed annual sales quota
  • Cultivate new opportunities to aggressively expand territory pipeline, with a focus on financial services, insurance companies, and asset management firms
  • Navigate large enterprises to reach decision makers and sell Narrative Science products and solutions
  • Balance closing opportunities with regularity while continuing to grow 12-18 month pipeline
  • Provide solution scoping and product requirements to product and engineering functions
  • Utilize Salesforce.com to effectively manage the sales process and maintain relevant sales activity
  • Represent the company at industry events and with key prospects in the territory
  • Ability to travel as needed (typically 5-7 days per month)

Qualifications

  • 5 to 10 years of BI and/or enterprise software sales experience selling into large institutions
  • Consistent history of exceeding sales quotas (+$1MM in annual bookings) and experience with consultative selling
  • Strong sales acumen with the ability to develop relationships across a variety of functional roles
  • Desire to be part of a team that is building and selling a groundbreaking technology
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Prior experience working for a fast growing startup environment is a plus
