About the Job

UrbanBound is looking for a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to help lead our quality assurance effort, and help ensure that we’re building the absolute best products for our customers. The Quality Assurance team gets involved at the earliest stage in the process, ensuring that user stories are fully baked and testable. The Senior Quality Assurance engineer should be well versed in the latest approaches to testing a web application with a JavaScript frontend and a API backend. You make use of the wide variety of open source tools to get your job done, but aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves and put together a custom solution if you can’t find something that will do the trick. The successful candidate realizes that large automated test suites are a large asset to any company, but also realizes they they must be properly maintained and curated to prevent them from becoming a net negative for the team.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that UrbanBound’s products are awesome, and of the highest quality.

  • Read through the source code of features, to get a better understanding of how a feature is implemented, so you can determine the best way to test it.

  • Constantly evaluate the current landscape of testing tools and approaches, checking to see if we could be doing something smarter, or faster.

  • Mentor junior members of the Quality Assurance team, helping them become better automation engineers.

  • Serve as an advocate for the user by ensuring that we are providing the best possible user experience.

  • Implement end-to-end automated feature tests through critical paths in the application.

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose test failures.

  • Keep the test suite running like a finely tuned muscle car.

  • Find edge cases, quirks, bugs, and inconsistencies before our users do.

  • Work with development and design to fix any issues discovered during testing.

  • Hold test code to the same, high standards as production code.

Requirements

  • You must love working with the best tools and people.

  • 6+ years experience in quality assurance.

  • 4+ years experience testing web-based products.

  • 3+ years experience implementing end-to-end automated tests using tools like Selenium, Capybara or Nightwatch.js.

  • Experience managing and maintaining a large automated test suite.

  • Experience testing applications on different platforms, such as desktop, web, and mobile.

  • Familiarity with the latest techniques in automated testing.

  • Experience working on an agile team.

  • Meticulous attention to detail, results-driven attitude, and ownership over quality and outcomes.

  • Enjoys working with people in engineering, product development, sales, marketing, and customer support.

  • Security testing experience is a big plus.
