Description

Want to build the next great website? Whether you are getting started in the world of web development or are an expert looking to enhance your skill set, this workshop by web developers at Gogo will introduce you to tools, techniques and best practices of web application development.

Modular design is a common principle in software development and for good reason. Small chunks of code dedicated to one purpose are easier to test, maintain and reuse. This principle has taken hold in the front end with a move away from the traditional MVC design to component based architecture. Many of the popular frameworks such as React.js, Vue.js, and Angular 2 along with a number of tools and best practices support the implementation of CBA. Join the women of Gogo’s web application development team to learn how to approach a component driven application using modern JavaScript principles, tools, and frameworks. Live code with us as we apply these ideas to a mini application.

Presenters: Katherine Carrington, Kyla Klein, Emily Timko, and Jing Zhang are senior and lead developers for Gogo's Web Application Development team. They support 4 different base applications for Gogo’s in-air experience, with customization for around 20 different domestic and international airline partners. They enjoy the unique challenges of supplying customized modular applications on a limited bandwidth. They come from a diverse education and career background, from full stack developer to mathematics, and quality assurance. They have a combined experience of nearly 40 years in the industry.
