Social Analytics: When It Comes to Picking NFL Winners, Women Rule!

Can Social Media predict the winner of the Super Bowl? Chicago-based data analytics company Networked Insights says yes.  

Analyzing conversations on social media, Networked Insights has successfully predicted the past three Super Bowl winners (not to mention the Cub's World Series Win).  They do it by using emotional analysis on conversations across various social media platforms.  Whichever team has the most support is more likely to be the eventual winner - Think of it kind of like a crowdsourced prediction.

This year Networked Insights decided to dig a little deeper into their three years of NFL Playoff data, and discovered a surprising fact: Women are consistently more likely to predict a winner than men.
